An American Success Story

From humble beginnings to becoming a trusted fixture in America’s finest kitchens, Vent-A-Hood’s history is a classic American story of entrepreneurship. Explore the milestones that transformed a small home-based startup into one of the most respected names in kitchen ventilation.

1933

At a time when residential kitchens had no effective way to remove smoke and grease, Vent-A-Hood is founded in Dallas. Our first handcrafted range hoods are built in a house with a dirt floor and sold door-to-door.

1930s–1940s

Vent-A-Hood expands rapidly, opening three Dallas factories with financing from local businessman Carr P. Collins Sr. His nephew, Miles Woodall Jr., is recruited to lead the company, beginning four generations of Woodall family leadership that continue today under CEO Miles Woodall III.

1950s–1960s

As America’s kitchens evolve, so does Vent-A-Hood, introducing revolutionary Magic Lung® technology along with new hood colors and styles. Our hoods become a fixture in many of the country’s most admired kitchens—including actress Doris Day’s.

1970s–1980s

Building on the success of Magic Lung®, Vent-A-Hood continues to refine our signature ventilation technology while introducing new features, styles and design options.

1990s–2000s

Vent-A-Hood modernizes our Texas manufacturing facility through plant automation while expanding our product line with new finishes, custom capabilities and specialized ventilation solutions for virtually any kitchen configuration.

Today

Every Vent-A-Hood range hood is still handcrafted in Texas under the Woodall family’s leadership. Through an extensive network of dealers and distributors, we proudly provide premium ventilation solutions to homeowners across the U.S. and Canada.
